I believe they've banned the tags rather than the Xbox's themselves but this obviously means they've lost access to their paid for DLC and gamerscore.

Now I'm not playing ignorant but I don't even know how it was possible to illegally obtain marketplace content, Microsoft even say they won't divulge specifics. MY best guess would be a JTAG console?

Does anyone really know what it's all about?

Shame that they lost access to their paid for DLC....NOT!

That's the risk you take.

I imagine it must be jtagged consoles.....can't see any other way.

I believe it relates to people using proxy's to download content only available in other regions

It's doable without, There's a video up on youtube.

That's just exploiting the console/gamertag licence is it not? Which afaik isn't really illegal.

My friend has 2 consoles and buy's it on his secondary console but uses his gamertag on his primary, that way he has two of everything...

I have a friend who always goes halves on DLC with a friend. He uses his gamertag on his friends console so his friends has access to the DLC and then he downloads it again on his console. I doubt that's what MS are banning for though.

Any links to this story? I've bought content on my bro's console and vice versa. Wouldnt have thought it was illegal though.

Edit*

Ok done a bit of research it looks like people were hosting the arcade titles online and allowing people download it to their console and were able to transfer it to their console and gamertag.

Basically theft.

It's an exploit used on the xbox.com marketplace that allowed users to download content to the xbox.

Nothing to do with sharing paid content between 2 xbox accounts (gamertag and registered console)

Oh and that download and use content (sharing) random website stuff was dealt with ages ago.
