Someone has offered me this:

Microsoft Network+ Certfication Course Book (A CompTIA Certfication
Program) in ring binder 2002 Edition

Is it worth taking off their hands? Worth learning etc?

Well, its still relevent because you'll find that most business' don't all have brand spanking new equipment. But at the same time, there is a newer revison of the exam which will cover the old stuff along with the new anyway. I think the newest revision is 2005.
