Trying to get through to microsoft support to see if i can get my console swapped out on warranty and you just cant get through!!! How are you supposed to contact these people? I have been on hold for 45 minutes and the phone goes dead then again for 35 min and it went dead again. I dont know what to do, has anyone called them before. Im i right in thinking this is the way to go about getting my console sent back for a repair?

I've had to ring them twice because my replacement console turned up and then promptly died within 15 mins again. I was on hold about 20 mins both times so you're a bit unlucky. They do pick up though so just stick in there, they're probably just busy.

hen i rang early jan i got straight through, i suppose the volume of calls has increased now

if you bought it from a shop get them to swap it, otherwise ring back early tomorrow, around 10 am

I was under the impression you HAD to go through microsoft for replacements. Is this not the case then? I did buy it from game so i will give them a call tomorrow, but i just assumed they will tell me to call microsoft.

It is a Saturday remember, they may (or may not) have fewer people working in their callcentres at this time. You'll probably get through quicker on Monday.

You don't have to go through MS to get a replacement, see if you can return it to the retailer you bought it off, though you'll have to return everything with the retailer, but with MS, you'll probably be able to keep everything including your HDD when you send the Xbox off.

ring your local game, ask if they have 360's in stock

tell them you are coming to exchange it

they cant refuse, but some may try to, take a copy of the sales of goods act(iirc) and fight your case

My experience with them was far from great, when a couple of weeks back my power supply packed up. I rang them up and when I finally got through I explained the situation, they said they would send me a replacement part. After four days a package arrives, open it up and find a power cord, not the power pack that I needed.

The manager of Game(derby) refused to exchange mine( :/ ), so i mailed game.net complaining that on there website it states that i can get faulty goods replaced instore and they rang my local store and told the manager to exchange my XBox(he still complained). Best thing to do i think, a mate of mine went through MS and hes now on his 4th machine, im still on my 2nd :).

Game have to exchange it, but they rely on consumer ignorance to get away with not making the exchanges.

Ive rang 3 times now and still havn't managed to get my Xbox 360 picked up. The first time i rang up was about 6 weeks ago :/ i think i'll try again tomorow and ask them to email the return shipping label.

Try ringing them first thing in the morning i.e. 7. It's a 24-hour international number and I got straight through to a US call centre.

The uk number is extended office hours though, so should i cal the us number? I know exactly whats going to happen when i call game tomorrow, i know they are going to refuse to exchange it, its shocking if you think about it as any other electrical part there wouldnt be an issue, these seem to be different.

Ahh, I've checked http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/contact/ and you're right it does say from 9:00 AM. Though I swear called them as early as 8 once before (though it was back in Jan and things could have changed). There's no harm in trying the UK number before 9 or even at 9 tomorrow (Sunday) as gamers aren't known for their early rises.

I had loads of fun and games trying to get through to M$ so i decided to call Gameplay (where i bought it from).

They were great, arranged a courier to pick it up the next day (Tuesday) and there going to send me a brand new sealed one, only problem its been sat on processing since Wednesday :(

I think they have to do it by LAW not because they want, so that might explain why its not on their site.

Same for me. The only thing to remember is even if you walk out with the new one, your warranty still only continues to the 1 year with your retailer. Although I reckon based on the date your replacement was manufactured you could go through MS if it was to break down again, outside the retailer 1 year warranty.
