Mike Portnoy Leaves Dream Theater.

That is a real shame. Maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds very unfair on Mike.

On the plus side, I love Ax7 as well, looks good for them.
 
I didn't realise he was that bad. I watched an interview and he really does come across as some one whos up his own arse. He's a damn good drummer though, can't take that away from him.

Any rumors on who's going to replace Mike?
 
No one yet, it only happened yesterday remember.

JP said it was a complete shock that this happened. I gotta say the way Mike has conducted himself after his departure is very classless. His personal message made out like he was the victim. He wanted a break - the other guys in DT already had a break, not being part of a million side projects. They need an income. Mike probably raked quite a lot in with Transatlantic and A7x. Then he goes and strokes his own ego by posting a link of a blogger who basically said that Mike was the heart of DT and DT is effectively finished. What a load of tripe. Mike Portnoy =/= Dream Theater. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does.

I personally am looking forward to the next album. Hopefully we'll see James use his vocal range more effectively, like his solo albums. And hopefully, John Myung will be turned up in the mix and start writing more like he used to. I'd love to see more of the musical Jordan Rudess like when he posts his beautiful piano improvs on Youtube.
