Mimicking other people's behaviour

I do this so badly with accents. Apparently I speak with a funky Lincolnshire accent mixed with random stuff I see on tv :D (keeping in mind that was we learn in school is American)

I've even taken after sayings that I would never had said before.

I work in a large multinational and what happens to English accents when they've spent 10 years in America is something that once heard cannot be unheard.

Really quite offensive to the ears.

I've done it with accents before.

Randomly start speaking in scottish accents etc.

Do you think you can do a good Scottish accent though? The amount of people who tell me "Oh I can do a Scottish accent" and then proceed to do a sub-par impression of Mel Gibson in Braveheart is quite something.

I don't think I pick up much in the way of accents based on where I'm living but I do sometimes find myself copying phrases that friends say, usually as it becomes a joke that is shared between us. As for body language sometimes I do something consciously to see if the other party will copy and other times I will find that I have reflected what they are doing.
