also, I've been listening in to Notch (game creator) and the minecraft community from the links and blog on the minecraft site. They mentioned an old game called Dwarf Fortress in IRC =o looks really mind blowing lol.

Notch said he wants to make Survival Mode like a light version of Dwarf Fortress, ie, collect resources, make a fort and try to survive. I think it'll really work, because Dwarf Fortress is really too much for me at the mo.

Hey guys, the new server is up and all, i haven't had time to be on it much.

I'm busy going through requests now. If everyone can supply their usernames too so i can keep a list. I have given a few admins outs to keep some law.

There are 11 members so far, however for the sake of the security it shouldn't get too full.

It seems Danneh and DanM have started their titanic build already, lots of digging goin on there guys :-)

I keep a daily backup of the map incase something goes wrong.

Any suggestions just send em.

Dwarf Fortress isn't an old game, it's still in development and is quite bleeding edge. The learning curve is pretty much a sheer cliff face, like Eve. Though Eve's is down to a poor / rubbish tutorial and guide system, Dwarf Fortress' is down to the "Losing is fun" attitude. You'll appreciate this when your well crafted fortress is filled with lava and burning dwarves because you've been attacked by a dragon which killed all of your legendary warriors.

I always felt Minecraft was inspired by DF, especially being able to root around underground, probably the aspect I enjoy most :]

A minimap with the layer you're digging on would be nice, but then I have no idea how complex these systems would have to be, or the performance hit.
 
Um wes, have you put on anti cheats? I lost connection and it said cheat detected, too many clicks. Kinda need to use my autoclicker to make the ship water area :(

I get cheat detected - distance, every now and then. I'm assuming it's the speed hacks.

Doesn't matter too much, you can just rejoin.
 
I created abit of a river/lake that goes under the motorway bit, also made a dam, be good to see some buildings go up in the dam area, can do what anyone likes in the dam area just dont delete the dam :p, can get rid of the little stream bit too, or could use it for the start of an underwater system since it's allready below ground level.

Also near it is a blue square, the begenning of a tall tower, be good to see a tower built to the limit, allthough I've not done anything as I have no ideas, needs to be good looking, maybe some creative bits on it but need help with that, if I'm not on the server than I'd like people to start it without me :p
 
Well titanic will only JUST fit in the pool, lengthways. Might have to dig out an extra couple of blocks just so there's some clearance.

The squares represent minecraft blocks, and each of the red lines shows 10 blocks, so that's how big it'll be, looking from the side, at the center of the ship. The blocks are too big to make as many floors as there are there, so we'll just improvise :)

I'll do a view from the bottom/top and front/back. If anyone can find any plans, that'd be great, I'm struggling to find pictures large enough.

Here is what I've made.

The large tower needs help and some creative minds to finish, it should be good when finished. It is surrounded by water on 3 sides, water is blocked off via glass blocks from flooding the dam area, you can wal through the glass wall into the flooded area as I've made a walkway with a sponge in. The black lines show waterways, the zig zag waterway is what I used to flood the area around the tower, the other waterway at the bottom of the image goes the whole length, and is abit of a sewer, this can be expanded, rooms added as seen fit.

I think the tower needs to be something different than just a rectangle, maybe have it getting thinner at the top?
