Long story short I have the chance to get a Mini on an 04 plate as a direct swap for my wife's car a Citroen C1 on an 08 plate. For what I can see it seems a fair swap and also avoids my hatred of negotiating with a garage or private seller as I know the person.

It appears to be a swap for legitimate reasons (insurnace costs for her 17 year old who is learning to drive).

Advice please. I have the car for the weekend and is seems in good working order apart form an exhaust rattle on idle however it "looks" like it is a bit lose (exhaust only 1 year old). It is booked in for an MOT on Monday and obviously any repairs will be covered before I comit to the swap.

I am a tad concerned about the mileage 90k I dont this impacts too much on the price difference between the 2 cars but I am mindful of this. Theres a full service history.

Advice on what to look for etc would be appreciated.

I'd leave it to be honest, the actual financial worth of the cars at present may be similar, but an old mini convertible that's been well used is going to throw up lots of bills.

Yes she wants it. Why didn't I buy one in the first place? Life changes and needs change. It's just an opportunity that has presented itself. Just looking for advice tbh.

She was wanting it as she is bored with the basic c1 and wants something more fun. I only envisage having it for 2 years max. She only does 3k max a year. I kind of agree with the cost compared to repair bills comment and that's what is holding me back.

Friend on Facebook has been trying to sell her convertible mini same year same mileage for 6 months with no joy, check the real value not what they are advertised for, most seem overvalued and unsold.

TBH if you are the type of person who wants a convertible mini you probably are happy to buy a new one
