I'm thinking of getting a new Cooper S in Racing Green with Black roof and bonnet stripes, was going to go for lightning blue but there are so many of them that it's put me off. Has anyone seen a new mini in green and got any thoughts?

Racing team green Minis look fantastic, there arent many Cooper S's around in that colour, they're normally in Gunmetal grey or one of the shades of Blue.

Dependand on what year your thinking of getting, they are good cars, if your budget will stretch to it try and get a Post 05 car with the Getrag Gear box in, and the pepper pack for all the gadgets and gizmos.

Have a peek at http://www.mini2.com they're a great little club, all sorts of techy info there!

I've got a 54 plate Electric Blue S at the mo, would be looking at getting a new one. Drove one recently whilst mine was having some repair work and is a much better car IMO.

As you said, there are loads around in blue/grey/silver but havent seen any in green so just wanted some opinions before taking the plunge!

Its the best colour is EB

Although stealers arent normally the best option, if you have a decent one near you, go for it.. shop around for a chop in price if thats what you are gonna do, my mate only lost 500 on his Cooper because he shopped about a bit.

I think you can spec them up, if you're going for an R56 too.

Mines in blue :)

Nice :) i've test driven a Cooper R56, it was a blast, was specced to the teeth and was a really fun drive, only niggle I find is the interior.. and the fact you cant change the HU, so if you like your music make sure you go for the HK Hi-Fi. Chrome Line interior with the Black Piano trim also improves it a fair bit too.

Ticked all those options as well as maybe the anthracite roof lining just to make the inside slightly less girly as that is the only thing I'm not as keen on.

Comes out about 21k im guessing?

And Lopez.. lost count the ammount of people that have said that...

If I was spending 21k on a car - and I doubt I ever would - I just don't think I could bring myself to spend it on a small, mass produced hatchback.

haha i had that thought myself but there is something about minis that I love. Out of interest what would you spend the money on?

You're like me... problem is a lot of people dont understand what it is about them, they just say, oh its a hairdresser/estate agent car or a shoe.

You a member of any clubs? I know there are a few down your way..

Something special!

Ford Mustang (not the new type), Ferrari 348, Plymouth AAR Barracude, Dodge Charger, Porsche 911, Ferrari Dino..... that sort of thing.

all v nice but I'm leaving the UK in 2 years and want a car that wont cost me after initial purchase as we will have a baby soon as well. For that reason I can't justify going for a 2nd hand car like those you mentioned.

West - not a member of any clubs at the mo, really should do as seems to be a great community!

Theres just a stupid ammount of meets and shows, my club Mini-Addiction we frequently do runs around Staffordshire and the West Midlands, we're going for a curry and that on the 21st of November, then a night run afterwards, one im helping to plan in my mates JCW Cooper S... cant wait. The last major one we did, we had about 20 cars, was a great site.. just a stream of Minis one after another one im helping to plan in my mates JCW Cooper S... cant wait. And we're always at a lot of the shows.

A good thing about the Mini's, not sure about the R56 mind, is that they just dont seem to depriciate that much. I had mine for 11k, and its still worth about 9.5 now from what my mate has said. Plus the one is very good for modifying, the ECU remap gets gains of around 40bhp, and along with the exhaust and other bits... you can get the one faster than a Cooper, simply by doing that remap.

Whilst I like the Cooper S, what does a new Cooper S do that yours doesnt which makes it worth £11k to you?

You appear to be spending £11,000 changing your car for a virtually identical replacement.
