Minor accident

I think this is a situation where, on the spot, I'd be tempted to turn in to somebody else. I have a memorised name and address for those sorts of situations, so I can just answer confidently with fake details.

Probably easier to just drive in a manner where you don't drive into the back of people

That's not entirely easy when people are intentionally trying to cause accidents!

Fake details wouldn't work when the other person has my number plate photographed. That's all they need.

Well you should always be far enough back that you can brake in time. About the only sort of scenario where you really can't help it is if they decelerate abnormally quickly, as if they had driven into a wall.

Agree you should should always leave a gap etc etc... but easier said than done if the person in front is maybe trying to be hit?

Well unless they find a way of stopping abnormally quickly, it shouldn't make a difference, you should be far enough back that you don't smack into anyone who decides to emergency stop.

It would only take one hysterical young woman to slam on the brakes to avoid running a squirrel over or something.

I find it easier to just keep a distance, rather than train myself into a position where I would automatically fake my own identity after driving into someone.

Easier said than done. There will be many situations where you are placed in a position where you cannot react and outbrake the car in front of you, because somebody else has put you there. I would be almost certain that if I wanted to, I could have you crash in to me on the roads in a situation that appears to be your fault. It's very easy to do.

I haven't 'trained myself to fake my identity after driving into someone', I simply have a fake name and address for situations where I don't want to hand over my real identity to total strangers with potentially spurious motives.

I'm just saying that faking your details presumably wouldn't help since if the driver of the car you hit has taken your number plate they'll just trace it back to your real name and address. Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

Let insurance company deal with it now. With any luck they will realise the other drivers are trying to pull a fast one.

Well, we don't really know it's a scam. I mean it could be, or it could just be that since I hit them then they're obviously just being opportunistic to make a few bob.
