I saw another job ad in the local paper for 'admin work' and decided to follow it up. The person whom I spoke to said that the role would include: letter typing, filing, phone answering etc. Then he vaguley mentioned something about doing some work on their website, something to do with fixing the client's login feature. As I said, he was very vague, so I can't be too specific. In all honesty, I wouldn't know what to do with this. How would I go about learning basic web development? It's obviously not something one can learn over night. He said it would help if I know someone who can do it, or as he put it "as long as you have contacts, you'll be fine". He said to call him back on Wednesday to arrange an interview. :o :)

Blag it.
Read everything you can between now & then. Start a thread here & get started. Also tell him you have the contacts that could sort any problem out. Full blag suit on and be as confident as you can be.
In my opinion everything you need to know is already on these boards, whether it be in past threads or the people that are willing to help.
Good luck.

I was also thinking that it would indeed be possible to blag it, I just don't want to misrepresent myself and end up looking very foolish. I'll study some new things between now and then like you advised, and I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for the advice. :)

Companies can be extremely useless when it comes to job ads.

I run a maintenance helpline that covers a variety of different trades and services (labourers, porters, plumbers, carpenters, decorators, etc etc), plus act as an assistant to the site manager here and put quotations together, amongst other things. It's a high pressure job that can be almost overwhelmingly fast-paced when something kicks-off. You need to be able to deal with the clients, manage suppliers and outsourced contractors, and manage your own workforce without letting them get out of hand. I do it pretty well, if I do say so myself.
Anyway, i'm emigrating soon and I although I only have to give a weeks notice, I gave them two months instead. That would have given us loads of time to find and train my replacement. They have done nothing at all to get someone new in though and so I forced their hand last week and pushed them.
They then went ahead and advertised for a..........secretary.

If you are not confident, just say that it is an area that you dont' have a great deal of experience in, but that you are interested in and are very keen and quick to learn.
