There is an interesting advert on page 32 of todays Daily Mail.
The advert is for a machine containing the 'New AMD Phenom' native quad core processor. Aparently this CPU is only available at one highstreet outlet.
The machine advertised:-

Phenom 9500x4
2gb mem
Vista home premium
NV 8400 256mb gfx
19" tft

This machine has improved technolgy for better multi-tasking and high definition entertainment.
Apperently it allows for no waiting while surfing and downloading, you can upload your CD collection in minutes and watch high definition videos with no patchy images.
Finally it allows you to experiance pure gameplay with no hangups.

There are so many holes you can pick in this advert.

Hang on...lies and exaggeration in the Daily Mail? Seriously?

Adverts for mainstream computer stores always make me laugh though. Does anyone else cringe when they hear one of the purple shirts on an advert look really surprised and impressed when told about some sub-standard specification? Like, 'Wow! 1 gig of memory? At this price?!'

Agreed their ideas of what's cutting edge do leave a lot to be desired, but while there's plenty of people blind enough to believe them they'll just continue with the over-inflated prices, horrendous customer service and make millions doing so.

It is always funny going into stores such as *oi competitor!*, I was with my dad about 3 months ago in one of their stores and he wanted to just have a hands on look at a sony viao, don't worry i wouldnt allow him to buy it from there.

While there i thought i would do a bit of browsing, some of their"gaming" machines that are advertised as top spec for about 2k could be be built on here for about 600 quid!!!

As long as jo public keeps buying the more will appear.

Who didn't look with some interest until you learnt better.

Just tell all & sundry how good o'clcks and the like are -otherwise it'll be all that is left:(

I got into an argument with their "Well match any price within 30miles" policy and ended up flyering items of equipment with printouts from OcUK web pages next to the corresponding items, showing how much cheaper they are here.
Took them a while to spot, but quite a few people left with the printouts instead of a product from the purple shirts. :D

the best advert is the guy with the purple shirt logo with changed words saying:

"Whats a pc?"

"Er wait one moment while i go ask my manager"

Cracked me up when i read it.... probably a had to see it sorta thing.
