They really need to start teaching Learners about there cars if a driver doesn't recognise his own Oil filler cap. :p

It's been 5 years since I passed and only driven on and off for one of them, I'll refresh myself! This sort of proves I need to, I knew there was normally a cap there, but I wouldn't have known a name for it!

They're taking forever to get back to me.

It's a good habit to have a look in the engine bay at least once a week. It gives you a chance to spot low fluids, and any leaks before they become a problem.

Just had a call back, apparently they didn't go under the bonnet when it was in last week so wouldn't have been taken off. They said they'd replace it but he needs to go speak to his manager regarding F.O.C.

I then need to discuss why it went missing considering i've not toyed with it.

So you have a sheet which states they went under the bonnet to check stuff, yet they state they haven't gone under the bonnet?

Ask the dealer which of the two he's lying about.

Ok well I'm going over tomorrow and they're replacing the cap for free.

I'll discuss the issues with why it went missing whilst over there.

i think it would effect the running of the engine due to the huge air leak in the pcv system

it would have been merrily been chucking oil out the hole too, if the oil level gets too low then you end up facing real problems

Id expect the oil and filter to be done too. Its standard practice for a garage to deny going near the part in question. But their answer can be disproved simply by showing them the check sheet. Take it with you and simply show it to them and ask how on earth they did the checks without going under there.

If you get no joy then demand to see the garage manager (not just the service manager). Then the area manager. Then go to citroen customer services.

This. Settle for nothing less.

Indeed, the manufacturer's own complaints departments are usually quite good at being helpful - individual dealerships can sometimes be no better than a ripoff merchant used car dealer.

Aint read the whole post but from what I did read you had it serviced 3 weeks ago well that oil on the underside of the bonnet is not 3 weeks worth I would say its just came off.

I would though check to make sure its not fell in a gap as it could work loose and fall in between the altinator belt or other moving parts and make a very bad mess.
