Thanks for the comments (positive and negative), I used a Canon 40d and sigma 10-22mm.
I felt all these shots benefited a lot from HDR, I know its not everyones cup of tea and thats fair enough, I can understand why some people think its cheating, but I still lack the skill to pull off the kind of dramatic shots I wanted under those conditions without HDR.
ElDude, yeah I can see your point about the steps, I wanted to constrast the hard metal and concrete with the soft misty trees, could have done it better I guess =)
Overlag, yeah the railtrack came out pretty surreal even without editing.
collisster, the HDR helps preserve the foggy layers with multiple exposures, I was a bit lazy and went out late morning... the early morning sun should make things a little less flat.
