Hi all,

I've recently bought a 2007 Mk4 Mondeo Titanium X 2.5L beast, and I’d like to upgrade a couple of things.

I've been having a lot of issues with crappy FM radio signal and my head unit doesn't have DAB

The unit has Bluetooth for phone but doesn’t support audio. I have read that if you replace the Bluetooth module to a later unit, this enables the Bluetooth audio as can be seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qDtrIrAe7I

I would also like to somehow either improve the FM signal, so I can get better reception and receive more radio stations. Or, install a way of using DAB in the car. I have seen a couple of solutions, one options is to replace the 6-disk changer (which I never use) with a tuner which results in each "track" being a different DAB station.

another solution was similar but used an FM frequency to host the DAB signal

Has anyone implemented any of these solutions? or have any better ones? I know the later Mondeo models supported DAB but possibly not with this head unit.

the other question is, do I need to update my firmware to support the new Bluetooth module? And subsequently if I do that will my nav DVD not be supported anymore?

Example of the unit i have from another thread (i have "type2")

You'll need to replace the bluetooth module with the bluetooth with usb module for audio streaming.

Done it recently on a 2009 Mk4. Wasn't difficult. Irritating, but not difficult. Can then update the firmware over the usb connection. That's a good 20 minutes.

Other stuff, no idea. This Mondeo had the 6 disc sony dab unit. Not satnav.

In theory, the part number needed is 8M5T-19C112-AM (Although anything higher than AM works too. Needs to state Bluetooth Voice Connectivity with USB on the module. As you've got a bluetooth module already, it should be a straight swap. I did pull the previous module out and check before getting a replacement from ebay.

USB cable is a mini usb plug to full size usb socket. There is an expensive official cable and socket that hides away in the glove box, I fitted next doors with an easily accessible cable.

Found this useful though. Lists a lot of the part numbers.

I also have a 2007 Mk4 Mondeo Titanium X 2.5L beast ;) Had it for 4.5 years now. It's a great car and I hope you enjoy yours.
I looked into making the same upgrade, but in the end a cheap £15 bluetooth to aux receiver in the glovebox won out due to laziness.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for yours and what's the mileage? I might be letting go of mine soon.

Yeah I actually have one of them currently. But it's a pain having to plug the USB in all the time as I think it draws power when the engine is off and I don't want to drain the battery

I paid £3250 with 98k miles on it.

Interesting. Where are you based. My friend might be interested haha

Sounds about right. £300 from Ford.

The lighter sockets turn off after the car has been shut down for around 15 minutes. Had to check that myself. Turns back on when unlocked.

I did this with my focus ST with the same blaupunkt head unit. Only difference is that my car already had a suitable module installed but did not have the relevant firmware. So 20 mins with a USB firmware upgrade and BT audio was enabled

Manchester. Mine's done 101k miles, so pretty much same spec/age/mileage. Good to know, thanks!

I paid £6k for mine 4.5 years ago, but it's also cost me £2k for an engine rebuild :)

Would something like the following work if you’ve already got the USB port?

no usb as of yet.

Sorry I meant for me! I have usb audio and Bluetooth voice but not bt audio.
oh strange i didnt know that was an option. from my research it looks like all the USB ones are the ones that support the bluetooth audio. I'd try updating your firmware and see if that enables the functionallty

also, the bluetooth audio is hidden under the aux menu so you may have it

no usb as of yet.

Full details of what happened here :)

The parking sensor mod for Convers+ on that thread is pretty neat. I'm going to do that one, depending on how much the guy charges for his firmware update. I'd still like to do the BT streaming one too but second hand receivers on Ebay look to be at about the £150 mark which is hard to justify on a car I probably won't be keeping for too long.

I've just bought a second hand reciever for £65, i'll let you know if it works!

It would cost you 60 euros to get PDC distance display enabled on your Convers+, along with some other things - see here: https://www.conversmod.de/index.php?page=conversmod

Yeah i do like the look of this mod, however not sure i can justify the cost. we shall see
