MK6 Fiesta 1.25 timing belt or chain

Does anyone know what it uses belt or chain and should it be the former when does it need replacing?

Is it a 1.25 Duratec engine?

Will almost certainly be belt. If it is, it will need replacing. As for the interval though, i'm sure somebody on here knows.

Belt, 100k miles if I remember correctly. And ye the 1.25 is a duratec.

Belt, if I could be bothered walking to mine I'd tell you the interval but it's a bit chilly outside

Nice engines the 1.25s actually, but I want something bigger!

Definately belt. I think the change intervals is every 100K miles. The Fiesta Duratec engines are basically the Zetec SE engines but are re-badged with the Duratec cover?

Edit - my bad, I was thinking of the cambelt! But yes the timing belt is done at 100K

i have a mk4 with the same engine and i think the interval is 60k/10years, might be wrong tho

Zetec SE engines afaik are 100k/10years. That was true for the 1.6 so might be slightly different for the 1.25.

Correct, they are Zetec SE (formerly Sigma) engines. Ford like to confuse the issue by sticking random engine badges onto both their engines and the back of their cars. Wonder how long it will be until "Duratec" is a trim option just to muddy the waters a bit further?

iim sure i read this before but then i saw ford had apparently altered the time to 60,000 ? that may just be mk4s tho

Yeah! Just like they did when they took the Zetec name off the engine & named some of their models as Fiesta or Focus Zetec lol
