Hurrah for machine polishers and produce, my car is finally now showing its true colours!

Off on the boat home on 3G dongle so only the one picture but the Zymol "special" stuff is stunningly good! :D

Just got off the boat and home.

I did not do the detail myself, although I will be doing all future ones the hazing, swirls etc left by the previous owner and dealer were far too plentiful for me to trust myself to do it - at least the first time around. Went to a pro and spent 8 hours on the exterior of the car. Very happy with the result.

As for more pics:

Detailing - the art of spending 3 hours washing a car and 5 hours taking pictures of the "flake pop"

Does look good though but I wouldn't bother on anything other than a show car or a classic that gets taken out once a month.

You do not need to spend that much time every week. And it was 8 hours of washing/paint correction/protection not 3 and 5 afterwards "tarting around".

I keep on top of the maintenance now and it will be easier than before and without cobwebs/swirls all over the paintwork. Couple of hours every other week to protect the paintwork and keep it looking good is a decent prospect to me. DD or not, I prefer my cars clean!

Nice one mate, takes time to do this sort of thing (don't think many people appreciate how long it takes to do a good job!) Got mine to get done next spring for a 1 1/2 day detail/paint correction.

One way to stop the disks rusting up is to drive back and forward using the brakes after the drying process....... not only prevents the rusting but gets out as much water from the nooks and corners!

See you're in Jersey as well! I'm from Guernsey :p You on C.I. Car Scene?

My comment was tounge in cheek and more directed at the detailers world threads that get posted with the number of photos getting into tripple figures :p

I too like to keep my cars looking clean, some say obsessively so. I can see the attraction of getting a swirled car machine polished but to go to the effort of getting it "detailed" is a step too far IMO. Maybe my definition of "detailing" is wrong?

I'm also a bit 'funny' about polishing cars. I only ever do my one once a year at most. Most of the Octavia hasn't been done for 2 years but then again I do a quick 'top up wax' every time it is washed so it still looks pretty good.

Maybe a tall claim but I could spend an hour on my car, get someone who knows their way around a camera to get some decent shots and claim that it had just had the full works and still get positive responses... and a week later it will be covered in bugs and grime again :D
