MMO trial to leave downloading overnight, which one?

nothing worth playing in around 5 years... WAR was really good if it had a well thought out endgame it might have managed to capture all the WOW pvpers but it didnt, its a pitty because to me it was much better than wow and i played wow from the early days

So far after 45 mins playing im actually loving WAR :S, its great its so much better to play than AoC which was just too clunky and slow. Made a dark elf witch i think which is a rogue type character and its awesome so far in pve. Quests are like the new content in wow etc, and ive never tried pvp in mmo's before so maybe it could be quite fun.

which server you are on ? Im on karak-azghal

people say WAR is dead but it isn't and now after last patch many people came back and quite a few new players joined.

yes, witch is a rouge type ( I think you get 'stealth' at lvl 10 ...

you can get really good exp and rr only by playing scenarios and on the battlegrounds :) thats what Im doing with my new rolled zealot ;) along with other toons hehe

thanks mate, yeah thats the server im on :) Im only trial atm but will carry on playing, if i enjoy it will get a month.
 
Aion is awful, i would avoid it tbh. same with warhammer online.
i would also vote for lotro, as its free beyond the demo, its a good choice.

ive not tried any others though

Just use your turbine points to clear stuff like the gold caps. Technically you aren't level limited either. You can play all the way up to level 65.
 
I found LOTRO a little boring, looked nice but something about it didn't grab me.

WAR I had high hopes for and was a decent game for a few months of play but the crippling lag and FPS in sieges coupled with the single point of entry to keeps and towers did me in, I may give it another whirl though. The other thing WAR failed on for be was the absence of a third faction, having to watch your back while maintaining an attacking front is what made DAoC so awesome !

Rift was good, nothing new but a lot refined and for a beta its very slick. It might be a little too on rails and the class diversity may not be as much as looks on paper due to the similarity of some of the souls (specs) but I think I'll give the release a go. What it does have going for it are active devs and GMs. Ideas and feedback seem to be acted upon fairly quickly.

I think that LoTRO requires a certain type of mmoer , into lore and story , perhaps RP, slower and more casual minded.

Yes indeed, Daoc was indeed awesome.
 
Hey guys, i forgot to mention on the original post ive got a level 25 in Lotro and yeah its a great game i just lost interest a bit, maybe i'll go back to it eventually! I am enjoying the WAR trial though which suprised me :)
 
Next few days I'm gonna D/L and give Aion a trail, never liked it before Ive heard good things about it since the last expansion, and as I just got it form 6.25 on steam sale, cant really go wrong.

IMO LotRo is a better game the WoW just people don't like shifting away from a game they have put so much time into. Lotro has a great story line to follow which I thoroughly enjoyed but played it for a long time so given it up now.
 
Just to say whilst i was drunk last night i bought aion on steam and started today, its been GREAT, its visually good and i love the style reminds me of a more polished guild wars, very bright and happy, its UI is probably the nicest looking in any mmo ive tried and i havent noticed any of the 'grind' people go on about with it as i beleive its changed since then.

Highly reccomended :)

Wait till you hit one of the main citys ie "sanctum" and wait for the horrific slowdowns and lag,for this reason i cancelled my sub very recently after trying everything to solve this.

All in all i came to the conclusion its simply NCsoft servers that are at fault and are simply oversubscribed

To be fair there aren't many mmos where you notice the grind in the first day of play. Also, most mmos are great on the first day of play. See if you are still highly recommending it after 2 months of play :)
