Mobile Contract Annual Renewal - The Cheek!

I too have not had a phone contract in ages. Usually pay for the phone in full or 0% over 12 months.

As for sim, been with voxi for years. Voxi £10 sim only. 80gb unlimited socoial media and unlimited video. and i've had no price increase since i've been with Voxi

1p mobile, EE network, £10 a month for 50gb. Bit cheaper than that actually as I have the missus’ on the family plan as well. Screw contracts.

Been on 1p mobile for years, got my Mum, Dad and 2 friends with them as well. Not a word of trouble from any of them.

Instead of price rises, had a couple price drops since I've been with them.

For some reason they keep their best budget option hidden on the website but it's great for people who just want a reliable service: https://1pmobile.com/siminfo?prodid=SB6

All I'd say here is be careful.

We had an issue where a family members account got 'hacked', number got transferred out to O2. Lebara didn't notify us at all about the PAC request.

Lebara have Zero 2FA methods on their accounts either.

Luckily, we managed to get the number back and moved over to TalkMobile (20GB £5.95) - so the damage was minor and they were pretty fortunate.

Also to note. Lebara are moving away on to their own Network Core which means they'll lose (HD Voice, EVS, Carrier provided IMS and Voicemail) - I suspect eventually they'll move away from VF

There’s plenty of options out there that avoid have these crappy mid contract rises.
Yeah, I've been on GiffGaff since 2018. My monthly contract has been 10 quid for the past 8 years and the only change has been that I've gradually just been given more data for that tenner.

I buy a new phone outright, I try to buy a decent phone when I do get one and keep it for 4 or so years. It's frustrating enough seeing my broadband go up X amount each March for a barely justifiable reason, if I had the same with a mobile contract as well I'd be exhausted of it all.

I asked google and got this back...

No, you should not lose HD Voice calling. Lebara’s new "NextGen" core continues to support VoLTE (4G Calling) and Wi-Fi Calling, which are the technologies that enable HD-quality audio.
In fact, the transition to their own core is designed to give Lebara more control over these features, though you might notice a few changes:
* Initial Setup: If you switch to an eSIM or a new physical SIM on the "NextGen" platform, it can sometimes take up to 7 days for VoLTE/HD Calling to fully activate on your account.
* Carrier Settings: On iPhones, the network name might change from "Vodafone" to "Lebara" (or even show a generic "Carrier" tag temporarily) in your settings.
* Voicemail: You will move to Lebara’s own voicemail system rather than the one managed by Vodafone.

I'd say plenty good options for mobile network deals can't be said for home broadband:( unless you are one of the lucky few in area with the smaller name providers

30 day rolling SIM only , usually jump ship if I see better offer and port number

Currently on talk mobile uses Vodafone/three £16 unlimited data yes really is unlimited, unlimited calls/ text ,

Also have talk home uses EE £3.15 per month
5 GB Data | Unlimited Minutes | Unlimited SMS

Short version, Lebara are dodgy AF.

I'm on EE paying a SIM only price of around £6 per month (now out of contract). Had the e-mail to say my price is going up £2.49 per month which is a huge % increase vs the old RPI+ approach.

Time to renegotiate or leave - they've always been pretty good for negotiating for me - when the roaming charges came in, I negotiated to get it included in my £6 per month contract.

I'm lucky to get my Phone and SIM through work, so I've paid £20 a month for unlimited minutes and texts/data and a replacement phone every two years (last year I had to pay £118 to get the iphone, but sold my old one for £250) for the past decade.

This is a slight problem with 1p, their 2FA option is an emailed code. So if someone gets into your email, they can reset your password to 1p and will receive the 2FA code as well.
This is why you don't use mobile based 2FA for anything important, and secure your email with hardware or biometric passkeys.

Requested my PAC and within 5 mins I had a call from Retentions. My current deal is 12Gb and inclusive roaming for £6ish per month. The best she could offer was 24 months of 25Gb data for £6 with the caveat that it would still go up £2.49 in March and £2.49 the following March. I can't remember the last time I used 12Gb of data so 25Gb is of no use to me.

Looks like its time to leave EE after almost 20 years. 1p mobile look ok but do you have to "topup" every couple of months? Are Lebara really that bad because I have a few EE blackspots near me that are better covered by Vodafone?

I got my deal with EE as a result of requesting a PAC code online through their site - got unlimited data and EU roaming for £13 a month! Pretty happy with that.

That said, I tried to move my son's O2 account over to EE and the deal they offered as a 2nd line on my account was utter garbage and they were having none of it as it wasn't a retention deal.

The problem with the virtual networks is network priority and lack of some features like some have mentioned.

Additionally, EE cap most of their tariffs speed wise to 100mbps.

I did manage to negotiate down their all-rounder iPhone SIM only plan from £47 to £12pm - this offers unrestricted network speeds, network prioritisation, EU roaming and an add-on so I chose Apple Music worth £11pm.
