Has anyone here got an Model train sets :D

I used to have heaps of trains as a kid but havnt for a long time.

Ive been looking around again but could do with a few links and info for them.(Especially for G scale ones)

Ive still got all mine inthe attic somewhere. Used to have a really nice little black steam enigine. Was called "puffing billy" or something similar.

No, and I can't think of anything worse. unless your into building the trains is full detail

I get to maintain the real one, that does my nut in let alone a model version.

Get a car, boat, air plane, helicopter. At least you move them in which ever way you want.

My dad has a large 00 gauge model railway in a shed in the garden (think it's about 18ft by 10ft). He's quite keen on the old model railways as you can possibly tell.

I'm playing with it now, while he's upstairs on my PC...

hehe be careful, that's how it started for my dad! :D
He originally bought me a model railway as xmas present when I was about 7. Since then I've lost interest and it's become his hobby. First of all it took over my room downstairs, then was moved to my dad's study and now resides outside in a large shed!

Was it not Smokey Joe?

I'm going to set it up in his room with the board on a hinge so tht we can put it up against the wall. What I can't get over is how expensive it all is.

I was in Ford waiting for a train and beside the station was a shop dedicated to model trains of all different scales. I wandered in and took a quick look around. It all seems quite interesting and quite expensive too...i saw a train costing £999...and even then, it didn't even have carriages. =/

00 Guage.

If youve got room you can get a fair layout on a 6 by 4 foot board.

Hornby do a track plans book with loads of layouts in, most fitting into 6 by 4.

www.hattons.co.uk is a good place to buy from, i use them all the time :)

I was into '00' gauge trains when I was younger, kind of gone off them now, my dad ahs always been into them though.

Its still good to spend some hours up the actic though, making things, altering the track testing out the trains etc. Its a Hobby that you cant really finish, there is something you can always do really :p

Got a few snaps here. Cant remember exactly how large the worktop space is for the trains but the worktop goes around the whole length and wide of the house in the actic. Took a bit of time building the worktop, but we got there in the end. Its an ongoing project which started about 7 years about lol.
