Monaco Grand Prix 2012, Monte Carlo - Race 6/20

I though Alonso basically pushed Grosjean out the way, but after that Schumi adjusted gave him plenty of space he could have stayed wide of that nasty outside barrier with dust all over the place, Grosjean just kept going over. Which makes me first off think its entirely Grosjeans fault, yeah Alonso maybe forced him over but he had so much space there to still not hit Schumi.

The question is, was any contact with Alonso significant and did that contact maybe break something and Grosjean didn't have full control so he couldn't stop heading into Schumi, possible but unlikely?

Any circuit where there's no overtaking.. scrap it. How can anyone 'race' at monaco if you can't get alongside another car and battle with him. It's just a single file procession of cars down a very narrow track. Pretty boring tbh.

So if we get a season where the cars are very spread out on pace we should scrap all the tracks :p

Some tracks you know what you are going to get, if you don't like the prospect it's best just not to watch the race... ;)

Entertainment value certainly ramped up with 15 laps to go as the rain came pity it didn't continue. I love the spectacle of the weekend but often the race is a little processional.

Good stuff from Anderson. He's come in for a lot of flack on here but I think he's been a decent addition to the BBC team, even if he does sound like a horse racing commentator.

the Monaco F1 race. Overtaking isnt the only thing that makes it interesting.

I fail to see how you can have a good 'race' without overtaking. It's a fundamental aspect of a race being good, as without it, what you're watching probably more closely resembles the definition of an exhibition than a race.

Some of the onboard footage of how close they are getting to the barriers is fantastic and it looks lovely but that doesn't make it a good race.

Seeing 24 highly strung, 750bhp bathtubs hurtling down a greasy public road passing barriers with inches to spare at 180mph.

and the top 7 finishing within 7 seconds! For all we knew someone was going to stuff it in the barrier and anyone could have won. Fair the result didnt change in anyway, but the way they got to that result was still thrilling to watch.

Does in my book. I feel the opposite sometimes to racing. These DRS induced overtakes at all other tracks this year are boring. YAY someone with 20kmph advantage down the straight overtook!!! WOW!!!!! Thrilling. Cough. I would much rather watch a race like Imola 2005 and 2006 where Alonso and Schumi battled half the race within inches of each other, but never overtaking, rather an someone faster, overtaking with an drivers aid, then disappearing off into the distance.
