I put £30 in the Mondy last week and I'm almost back on empty again. Only done about 120 miles so far which I reckon is pretty poor (I remember how Fox always used to go on about getting 38mpg etc.)

What sort of miles are other Mondeo drivers getting from £30ish?

I get at least double the mileage for what you put in for my 2.0 zetec. I reckon I get just under 100 miles for a tenner, something like 80 miles. I reckon £15 would get me between 100 and 120 miles (basically I do 120 miles every weekend so I've kind of got it sorted on how much to charge my passengers ;))

From my silvertop 2l i tend to get around 24mpg over an entire tank but that involves a lot of driving whilst the engine is still cold over short distances, or when I do do longer distances it's usually at speeds that aren't beneficial to fuel economy ;) Throttle is usually as wide open as conditions allow.

Tom.

EDIT that usually means 280 ish miles from 65 litres

My trip computer is reading 30.8mpg at the moment, and that's after a lot of motorway miles.

It'll average stupidly high MPG sat at 65-70mph with the cruise on for hours, but if you thrash it, it drops like a stone.

I'm not too concerned about how much it's costing, thanks to my fuel card, but filling up so often is annoying.

You got a pinhole leak or damaged tank by any chance? Worth sniffing around, don't forget to use a lighter to get some visibility in the dark bits :p

On a good driving day i get 100miles per quarter tank

On a bad day i can get around 50miles per quarter tank ;)

I am now happy with just 75 miles per quarter tank most of the times.

1.8 (blacktop petrol) mondeo thou.

Driving in an average fashion (ie not caning it to within an inch of its life everywhere but not driving like you are 70) should return 25mpg around town and 38-43mpg on Motorway runs @ 75.

If you are getting significantly less than this further investigation is required.

Have you tried pressing that button on the dashboard just to the left of the steering wheel?

It's the one marked "Fox". If you press it once, your fuel economy will improve by 100%. If you press it twice, you'll also shave 3 seconds off your 0-60 time. Three times and your car go underwater like the one in the James Bond film!

That is 20.5mpg, is it stuck in 2nd? :D
When it stops wheelspinning in second I sometimes change up to third.

Everyone keeps harping on about how great diesels and autos are...... not when you drive to work like I do. I've got similar fuel figures for every single car I've ever owned.

*Yawn*

The Fox bashing has got real old now.

I get 500 miles out of £50 if I don't get stuck in traffic (eg when I do a late shift at work).

That is with a 1.8 Blacktop zetec engined mondeo.

Normally get about 470 out of a full tank of £50, but went down to 420 last tank. I suspect this may have been caused by a few short journeys and the cold weather.

Astra GTE16v. You have to resign yourself to the ropey handling and dire interior, but I have never owned a more economical car that's also had decent performance. I could even get 40mpg out of it driving sedately, not that that happened very much. Shame they are nearly all rotten wrecks, I would serioulsy consider owning another one else.

What happens if you press the davidstone28 button?
