Mondeo 2.0 fuel economy?

I put £30 in the Mondy last week and I'm almost back on empty again. Only done about 120 miles so far which I reckon is pretty poor (I remember how Fox always used to go on about getting 38mpg etc.)

What sort of miles are other Mondeo drivers getting from £30ish?

I'd say about 70% of my driving has been town driving and the remaining 30% is motorway stuff (only about 80mph, nothing silly)

I still think it's a bit low though, gonna get a new air filter and plugs at the weekend to see if that helps.

Yeah, just regular 95 RON stuff, didn't think it was worth putting the expensive stuff in.

I'll be doing about 200 miles of motorway driving at the weekend so I'll see how much of a difference that makes. I just reckon its the combination of old car, cold weather and mainly town driving that's causing the crap economy.

Yeah, I'll just service it myself, shouldn't take more than half an hour on something like that.

Right the, today I've done 160 miles. Around 100 of them have been at a constant 90mph and the rest were country lanes. I filled the tank up this morning and I've used exactly 1/4 of a tank so far. I'll refill it tomorrow to find out how many gallons I've used so I can get an idea of the economy.

Just emptied the tank on the Mondeo, done 420 miles so far (the fuel light is on but there is probably enough for another 20+ miles left to go)

Looks like town driving gives atrocious economy but motorways give superb fuel economy. Shame that most of my driving is round town

Just worked out that I averaged 33mpg from that last tank. Not too bad really considering it's been cold and none of the driving was at a steady 56mph
