Ok shoot me now I bought a Mondeo. However it was only £300 for a 1.8TD with a lowish milage.

However the insurance quotes are stupid! I was quoted FC on a Volvo V40 2L for £750 which for a first time driver isn't too bad. However despite being 2 insurance groups lower the mondeo is coming in at £1100! Also FC is cheaper than TPFT on the mondeo with almost everyone, how does that work!

Any idea why? Or where I could get a semi-reasonable quote? Both quotes are the lowest as given by confused.com.

Ok great. I'll try some direct quotes first.

I thought it was weird that a cheaper, crappier, slower, cheaper parts and lower insurance group car would cost more to insure.

I'm 22 and have a place with my partner. I also have a bike license with 5 years no claims, are there any companies that doa combined car/bike policy as they might get me a better quote if that NCB can be used in any way.

I'm not sure they will let me put my parents on the policy if they arn't living at the same address.

With Admiral/Bell/Elephant, it didn't ask any details about the address of the named drivers - only their name, age & driving history.

confused.com is hopeless

you may want to try moneysupermarket though

they've turned up quotes cheaper than the highstreet names have before.

I'm with Carole Nash for my bike insurance, and I know they do combined policies. I've no idea whether your 5 years NCB will make a difference though - the cynic inside me says not, but it's worth a look.

My parents are in Spain, didnt stop them being added to old policies as they dont ask for information on them.

Hehe, yeah I know I was more posting because of how confused I was at the differences made by going to a lower group car etc.

I've now found a quote from elephant for £729 TPFT with £150 excess which is much better. Still hunting though.
