Would anybody like to hazard a guess at what a garage may charge to replace this?

Car is a 2000/W Mondeo ST24.

Thanks
Rich

I'd expect to pay £50 for the pump itself and two hours labour. Around £150 would be reasonable considering the tank has to be removed to get to the pump.

Really? The RAC guy who diagnosed the problem was able to access the pump by lifting up the rear bench?

Did he lift the bench to hit it? Is there an access panel to get to the pump? On my Fiesta there's a little rubber seal with the electrics going to the pump but no means of accessing it.

Janesy - yes, under the rear bench is a round rubber seal with some terminals and an electrical connector. Having seen an image of the Mondeo fuel pump, I understand the pump itself is the other side of this seal.

I'll pop round to the garage shortly and see what they say.

Small local garage (not a dealership) said they could only source the part from Ford at a cost of £275 + VAT.

I found a pump through one of these 'spares' websites for £41 delivered.

Plus 45 mins labour to fit, total cost: £79
