Money transfer but slightly wrong account number!

Hey all, my friend owed me some money so he said he'd transfer it into my account, he did it at a cashpoint machine using those swish envelopes cos branch was closed.(we use same bank) I gave him my Name, Account Number and Sort code but I just found out I mistakenly texted him a 9 instead of an 8 in my account number. Anyone know what the banks do in this situation? Anyone been in this situation before, is it easily resolved? Cheers for the help.:o
 
If you do it, online the money gets put back in the senders account within a few days. I assume there will be a similar procedure with the cashpoint setup. Did he have to put his card in or anything to register his details. Best bets to phone the bank.

some do , others put it in a suspense account until it is claimed back

Thats the most common action.

I'd suggest you call the bank, and ask them to revoke the payment so that you can try again :)

He took the money out of his account at the cashpoint then used the deposit envelope feature to put it onto my account(writing my [wrong] account details on the envelope). It didn't go back into his account so I guess we'll have go in 2moro and just explain what happened. I just hope it doesn't take too long to sort cos I need the money superquick time :/
