My self and a friend are signed up to do this years Mongol Rallly setting off on July 14th from Good wood Circuit UK and finishing in Ulan Bator the capital of Mongolia roughly 6 weeks later.

We have a blog up and running now with our progress so far from signing up to the event to todays trip to the scrap yard grabbing some parts for our 1.0 litre Suzuki Swift which we will be doing the rally in :)

I've mentioned little snippets of this upcoming trip in other posts across the forums and had a few questions asked, so thought it's about time it got it's own thread going.
If any one is interested in The Rally it self or is thinking of doing it in the future, Our site is very basic "all new to me blogs web pages" etc but we've made the best job we can of it and tried to put as much useful information we can on there to help other people who may fancy giving it a go.

Here's a link to our scrap yard blog today. And my sig links you direct to our home page.

I hope if it's some thing you've ever thought of doing then reading it and watching some of the videos i've collected gives you inspiration to give it a try, maybe even as soon as next year :)

I did this!

It'll be the best thing you've ever done. It took us 31 days.

It's a 1/3rd ;)

always wanted to do this, how many days do you reckon you'll take to complete?

Booked 6 weeks off work but as far as we can tell, take us around the 5 weeks mark,, very very rough guestimate though..

Cheers Tres, spoke to yu a few times about it when you got back and followed your blog on your trip.. Credited you lads with inspiration for doing it myself :)

I'm so very envious, you'll have an epic time!

Been planning out how on earth I'll sort my Visas for my trip, that Visa Machine site looks great but the admin fees are huge!

Ye i feel like my wallet got mugged no doubt about it.Small bonus was the 15% off for ralliers this year. I suppose if you can put the leg work in and know the system a little you could do it yourself for a lot less ?

It's done for us for now, and i've just put it too the back of my mind concerning costs :)

I tend get my visas by post individually but I'll be needing 7 for my next trip so the odds of it getting lost in the post increase hugely.
