Mongoose, Scorpion, Magnex or Milltek?

I'm a big advocate of Milltek, had a few including one on my VX220T, love them. I wish they made one for the 911 and the 135i...

The bore is far too small and the quality is poor by many accounts, they seem to falling apart after a couple of years.

I've had a couple of Mongoose systems and they have been great, no problems at all. If you live anywhere near Congleton Collins Performance can fit you one on site they are the main distributer

I had a full Milltek system on my old Audi and I thought the quality was 'ok', but the fit was awful. Took my dealer a couple of goes and I still thought it hung too low. Cost me upwards of £700 iirc.

I don't know about the Ford circles anymore, but mongoose used to have a good reputation.

I definitely not giving Milltek money for my next exhaust.

My mate had Milltek fitment issues on his Leon, it used to knock and after many trips back to Awesome GTI to have it looked at with no success he resolved it with a heavy duty tie wraps.

Tie wraps are awesome

If I was buying I'd probably get the Mongoose...seem to be cheaper than Milltek and I have not read anything whatsoever that questions the quality of their products. Mongoose are are owned by Collins Performance who have been around for a long time, best known in Ford circles....

Everyone on various forums seems to rate Milltek but also everyone seems to say that they rust quite badly so with that in mind I don't see why there's so much love for them. Maybe they've somehow managed to build up a brand and are living off that brand name even though they're not actually that good?

A few people have mentioned that the Milltek components [of late anyway] rust, not good. I like the inward rolled look of the Scorpion and it sounds great. Not loud just a deeper burbling tone.

I used to have a 1700 fiesta, with a puma lump + nitro. Most of the ford racing spec cars use eithet miltek or piper, as they are pretty much the same kit. The pumaspeed peeps generally went with milltek and the pumabuild guys used pipers. But they are pretty much identical designs, I had the 4-2-1 manifold, and I believe you could get a 4-1 manifold also but anyway.

Milltek stuff is top grade stainless steel, it will oxodise if you don't keep it clean. It won't rust through, but it will get discoloured, and get a surface film.

I liked the Milltek [even bought a Milltek sports cat] but found the noise it made to raspy! The Scorpion is a nicer sound.

I guess its a taste thing, the full manifold/exhaust milltek and piper systems have a racey raspy sound, which I personally love, but a lot if people expect a deep throaty sound.

I've got the magnex and race cat, got them 2nd hand from someone in the OC, might swap it for a piper if I decide to decat it. As the decatted piper's I've heard sound wonderful

How come I've heard of absolutely loads of Millteks that have snapped or rusted through? I've spoken to loads of owners that have had them replaced by Milltek, I see it all the time on the Mini forum where somebody has a Milltek up for sale after it was replaced.
