Hey yea,

Ive seen monitors around with something that is either glass or perspex covering the lcd screen.

What do you look for when buying a monitor that has this or is it something you add on?

Dont mean to be slightly vague, thanks for any help,
Sean.

Xerox and HP monitors.
very good.
I would not buy a monitor without a glass front.
Just check on the glare from the glass to see if it upsets you.

As has been said HP monitors have them. Excellent as far I'm concerned - as long as you don't have a window or light source directly behind you.

Best bet is to look at the education sector ;)

We use them at work - School.

They are crap if you want to use for anything tbh but are good if you need the protection

Well, at home, playing games, my HP W2207H delivers noticeably better colours, blacks and general screen experience than any of the other 22" screens I looked at.

My Samsung TV also has it and also delivers a much better image than any of the others I looked at.

All IMHO, but crap is strong language

Asus have a new listing on their website for a 20" LS201 that lists 9H hardness glass, Anti-reflection <2%.

Liked the look of it before I noticed it uses a larger dot pitch of 0.291mm, and is limited to SXGA+ 1400x1050 resolution. Take it this is not widescreen?

I do agree that is rather silly.

Back to the screens though. I had a NEC LCD20WGX2 which had Opticlear cover on it. Though it made for very deep blacks it was reflective and could make the screen glare quite bad.
It didn't bother me very much becuase I mostly used the screen in a darkish room, but if your monitor is opposite a window it may drive you bananas. :)

Our Xerox ones at work have a casing over the screen, good as it stops finger prints getting all over it. Seem to work fine, obviously we don't sit there playing games on them though...We've ran a few demos on a few machines and I've never noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I believe the model number is XAP 172i, a few years old now though.
