More 350D advice req!

How do you switch it on?

Stupid question I know, but wondering if my newly acquired 350D is faulty. Turning the switch to "on" does nothing at all, and it was only whilst faffing about that found it will only power up if you hold the shutter down whilst turning the power on. This does not seem to be mentioned in the manual so it normal, or knackered?

its not normal, is the CF card door closing properly. The 350 won't start up with the CF card door open. thats the only thing i know that stops it powering up besides a flat battery

I think it's knackered, I had exactly the same problem with my 400d, sent it back to the shop and they replaced it for me.

Yep, thought as much. The battery and CF doors seem to close properly, and the CF light flashes just after either door is closed (with a CF card installed) which seems to show the door switches are being operated.

What a load of testicular appendages

The camera was ex-display from a well known chain of photographic shops, but has warranty etc. Just a PITA.
