My daughters PC needs more ram...

It takes DDR4.

Currently using 2133mhz (2 x 4gb)

Her mobo can use 5200(O.C.) / 5100(O.C.) / 4800(O.C.) / 4600(O.C.) / 4400(O.C.) / 4266(O.C.) / 4133(O.C.) / 4000(O.C.) / 3866(O.C.) / 3733(O.C.) / 3600(O.C.) / 3466(O.C) / 3400(O.C.) / 3200(O.C.) / 2933 / 2667 / 2400 / 2133 MHz

I got no idea what would be best now.

I want to put 32gb in. (2 x 16gb) To last her for several years.

Any views / opinion?

Thanks

Yeah specs would help. If you go with 32GB the rest of it may be outdated before she runs out of RAM, what's her use case that needs it?

What CPU? Could make a big difference.

16GB would probably be fine, 3600MT/s is £36, 32GB is about £60.
You could go 3200MT/s for very little performance difference - 16GB £32, 32GB £60, personally I'd go 3600 for what little extra it costs.

First person shooters, JC3/4, Tomb Raider.....and more, lol...

I think 32gb would be a good future proof...

Not sure what CPU she has. I built the PC but cant remember. It has really good onboard GPU too.

As this has already been accidently bumped, Ill ask lol
I have 16gb DDR4 3600 at the mo. Seen how cheap 32gb 3600 is these days, is it going to be worth picking some up? Am I right in thinking it's unlikely that i'd see a performance boost when I have 16gb and I don't have 40 chrome tabs open. Tend to game at 3440x1440 with youtube or twitch on a second monitor. I'll admit, I never really looked at ram utilisation. There wasn't any obvious issues.

Thinking I might just upgrade to AM5 and DDR5 at some point next year anyway, so I'm guessing it might just be worth holding off.

Unlikely if you've never noticed. Just keep an eye on task manager when everything you usually open is running.
If you have 4 slots you could buy another 2 sticks maybe, if you REALLY want more RAM, cheaper but that has its own issues

£50 for 32gb of memory is not bad imo especially if you sell you old 16gb kit, making it a £35 upgrade approximately.

Monitor memory usage if your unsure.

I have a laptop and it's running at 10GB usage now, that's just a couple of "lightweight apps" now.

My desktop has 24GB and it definitely went over 16GB in memory usage and that's not playing AAA titles.. so yeah I'd say get 32GB
