I noticed today, something that annoys me with the wii, its something microsoft sorted out by their standard on every game.

Why oh why did they not make all games widescreen in this day and age? Not only this, but there is not even an option to stretch games to fill a screen properly, so some titles you have little black bands at the side, this wouldnt bother me too much if it was uniformed, but different games are left with differing sizes!

Because Nintendo firmly believe it is still 1995 and that everything they do is godlike and the right way.

Anyone telling them otherwise is greeted with Miyamoto putting his fingers in his ears and shouting "na na na i cant hear you!"

Although i think if you go into the Wii options you can change the settings to 480p which makes it widescreen. Not too sure.

Replace Nintendo with sony...

Are these nintendo first party games (bar mario party) that are causing this because if not it has nothing to do with them.

You should not blame Nintendo, instead you should blame developers that do lazy 4:3 ports from dream cast games and done even add wide-screen support. Nintendo have simply made it the most "accommodating" they could for all parties.

Problem with the Wii at the moment is their is too many kiddy games and ports from the PS2 etc. as far as i know nearly all the official games that were developed for the Wii are Widescreen.

They're just far less restrictive as it allows more smaller companies to give it a shot. What first party games do this bar Mario Party?

Pretty sure Super Smash has a little, i think i noticed when my daughter was playing.

Syph, my kids mainly play the wii, i dont play an awful lot on it (well, actually i think the only game ive played more than 10 minutes has been Ghost Squad).

I would probably play it more if there was less of these problems.

Nope, the legit Brawl has full widescreen support. You may have issues playing a pirate copy on 576i settings though.

Its possible, do you not have that problem with your copy? It was Ghost Squad that really set the annoyance rolling, not only did it not fill the screen, it was full screen as well.
