What do you lot think is the most over-rated game of the past 12 months? Give reasons too obviously.

My own would be Fallout 4, The Division was a close second but for me FO4:

- No AI, seriously it's worse than previous games
- Graphics look awful without mods.
- Feels clunky, interface, interaction, everything.
- Base building felt like an add on.

I realise plenty of people love the game, but I just can't bring myself to play it any more.

Easily the division as it is as shallow as a puddle.

Another one is undertale, which in my opinion was awful and has the cringiest fanbase in history.

Are future games allowed? Is so then no man's sky.

EDIT: I forgot about MGS V! Christ that second act was bad.

Ooooo you're edgy aren't you.

I honestly can't see how those 2 can be overrated. Both sold incredibly well, both got excellent reviews and people are still playing both, albeit Division is only 3 weeks old but poor games don't even last that long.

For me it's Battlefront, the hype around it was massive and it ended up shocking. Most of the player base left within a week or so. Also had some reviews scoring it way higher than it should be.

Not sure it falls into last 12 months but Alien: Isolation. I know that won't be a popular choice.

I normally like games that are challenging but due to the save system you end up repeating the same sections of the game again and again and again. I just find that really frustrating. I have only played for 3-4 hours so maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance.

Because I have a different opinion to you?

No you're entitled to whatever you want but your reasoning seems a bit flawed.

"Shallow as a puddle".

Firstly the game wasn't meant to be some massive story driven rpg like the Witcher 3 or whatever.

Secondly the game isn't actually that shallow, if you do all of the missions/encounters on the map and don't skip the dialogue there's actually a fair bit to it, the work they've put into the area of the city is incredibly detailed and there's enough to keep you playing for over a month solid if you don't glitch or play 12 hours a day.

For me, its a close call between Fallout 4 and Battlefront.

The Division , I have greatly enjoyed, I've knocked up over 100 hours on it so far and that to me is value for money. As an added bonus, even my missus hugely enjoys it and thats meant its been a great game for us to run about together in (which in itself is worth the money !)

However, for the huge amount of hype surrounding FO4 and Battlefront, neither kept me interested for long past 10 hours. Of the two, I think I would have to select Battlefront as the most overrated, it failed to achieve the aims of the genre it was targetted with and appeared to be hoping to succeed based upon the Star Wars name.

I'm starting to think the same about FO4, the fact I can't even be bothered to finish it speaks volumes and I adore the FO universe. :(

I think you're missing the point of "over rated", I'd not say FO4 was poor value for money, likewise I wouldn't say the Division was even though I didn't buy it following a few hours in the beta. I just don't see them as doing anything for PC gaming in general, they are both very much cookie cutter games, FO4 more so imho - it doesn't bring much that FO3 did years previously to it.

I hate to say it and I know it is loved by many but FO4 I just couldn't take to. I am a big FO3 fan as well but just can't get into FO4. Just my opinion though and horses for courses. Battlenfront is another but I haven't really played that much, so not really fair to say that based on my playtime.

As for The Division - I am loving it.

Gotta be Fallout 4. It's honestly not a patch on Skyrim. The world is just so empty except for copypasta buildings. Hell even compared to Fallout 3 there doesn't seem much to do.

I wouldn't say I'm missing the point, both games were rated above your average game by many people.

If your definition of overrated is not doing anything for PC gaming in general we may as well stick 99% of games in that category.

I'm asking for personal opinions and reasons, I still think you've missed the point. In what was is someones personal opinion "wrong" when that's what they are being asked for?

Honestly

You're fixated on critic/community "scores", that's nothing to do with personal experience and opinions of games.

Someone's been upset. It's all personal opinions.

The Division for me. The world and atmosphere are so good, but it's just such a shallow game with very little to do. Seems to be a Ubisoft trait, Watch Dogs was the same. It could have been so much more but just seems to fall flat after a few hours.

The actual missions were awesome with some great set pieces, but the open world is so dull it's barely worth exploring.

Far from upset I just question some peoples reasoning, especially with The Division, OP didn't even give any reasoning. IIRC OP doesn't even own the game.

OP didn't rate it as his most over-rated game, that's why I didn't give any reason and no I don't own the game - hence why I'd never say it was over-rated without having thrown a good number of hours in post release (I only played it in beta).

Tomb raider, fallout and the division for me. Granted they are all well made games and i can see the appeal but each one fell flat for me

Sold division at level 10, so dull. Tomb raider is just too gamey, collect this this and this, jam rpg elements in.. because! And fallout 4 was to me just more fallout 3, which is fine but i just got tired fast :(

Sensitive little flower aren't you.

The OP feels FO4 (as with others in the thread) is over-rated, it's his opinion deal with it :)

Sensitive because I dare question reasoning :D

Cheers for the Thursday laugh. Opinions don't mean you're immune to any questioning.

Sensitive ones seem to be you guys jumping in adding nothing but childish remarks, cute.
