Most over-rated game of the past 12 months?

Not at all Ayahuasca, If you really want to know I didn't but the division because it felt too much like borderlands to me but without the humour. Borderlands I could get around some enemies needing 10+ bullets to kill because the setting was pretty insane to begin with but the division, despite having similar elements combat wise was in a very realistic setting, but with completely unrealistic damage to enemies. I couldn't get my head around it, that and the fact cars etc seem to magically no longer work and it was all down to running about, just seemed weird.

I ended up throwing a few quid at Broforce instead lol

Fair enough, there are arguments against those points you've made but I'll not entertain them.

Broforce looks interesting, not played a game like that since Metal Slug

Gonna stick up for Ayahuasca a little here. He didn't say anyones opinions weren't valid at all, just he didn't agree with the reasoning. You guys have got on the defensive a little too quickly imo :)

My own opinion :p is that I agree FO4 was over-rated. As for the Division, I actually found that to be a lot better than I were expecting. I am addicted to it at the moment!

I think people objected to the unnecessary "ooh you're an edgy one" and the dismissive tone he regularly employs in his posts. Maybe I'm the only one to think that but I doubt it.

Edit: unfortunately I don't have any of the games mentioned to contribute more directly. However I will say that experience tells me FO4 and Tomb Raider are both games I will feel are very overrated if I ever buy them.

I loved FO3 and NV but didn't get on with 4 at all. I've uninstalled now without making that much progress in game.

Expected more.

Come on guys, lets not descend into this type of thread and let everyone just have their own opinions please.

Thanks,

Stelly

I think you're taking me a bit seriously if you've come to that conclusion, I certainly don't regularly use a dismissive tone in my posts.

I started my post with that as a bit of a joke, those going against the norm. Apologies if it caused offence.

This thread is absolutely pointless if people get all offended by someone's opinion on a game.

For me it will have to be The Division and Battlefront.
I dont necessarily think MGS5 is too overrated as it does offer an amazing gameplay experience for the majority of it , but Act 2 was a mess and justifiably should have knocked it down a peg or two with reviewers.

Despite the fact I love the game and am still playing it (sunk 3 hours into it last night), I'm going to have to go with FO4.

I'm not saying it's poor, far from it - it's great. However it's nowhere near as good as it could/should have been.

The world feels very empty in a lot of places - I went for a wander last night, and as soon as you get off the beaten track, there's just emptiness. I went through the plane wrecks around the airport, and they are literally bare. No debris, no items (even junk). Would have been nice for there to be a few skeletons around, maybe some suitcases, even destroyed seats etc, but there's just nothing.

There's the same wandering through a lot of the towns; unless you're going to a specific destination, 90% of the buildings are (conveniently) boarded up - there's no reward for exploring (in many open world games, even if there's no tangible in-game reward, there's usually at least some interesting architecture/view, but in FO4 there's just another copy-pasted boarded up building).

Then there's the graphics. When you're in an interior area looking outside through a "window" - it looks like a PS1/N64 game in some places! Some of the textures (especially on character models) are dire - Virgil is a prime example of this.

I think it's a great game, but it could have been so much better; it feels like an expansion for FO3 a lot of the time (in itself not a bad thing, but 8 years later you would expect a bit more) :(

Battlefront for me.

Looked superb and played very well.

Just no depth, no SP, boring game modes and dodgy balance ruined it.

Being a massive star wars nut it would have to be SW Battlefront, the game looked an played great but was just to shallow in the long run :(

GOW same as SWBF looked an played great but, for a remake/boot for the Pc they bought nothing new to the table an felt rather let down after a couple of hours play.

MGS just couldn't get in to the game, looked great but felt like it was missing some thing new other than great graphics.

Basically sums up all my feelings on the game that has been the biggest disappointment for me.

AC Syndicate.

Played and enjoyed all of the AC games in one way or another, but Syndicate bored me from the outset and about as cookie cutter as you could imagine.
