I need to build PC for brother, its for streaming 12+ security cameras (+ over the internet)

I have looked at:

  • Intel 775 E5300
  • Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L

Regards,

I'm unsure about this. Trying to get two cameras running though a 'server' at work, which is a 2.5ghz ish dual core. Playback is horrific. My current guess is that the graphics card (matrox something or other) installed isn't capable of helping out at all, throwing all the load on the processor which sits at exactly 50% stuttering away.

If you can go up to £140 you can get this, better gfx and quad core cpu

AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 620 2.60GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £79.99 (£69.56)
Asus M4A785D-M Pro AMD 785G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £57.99 (£50.43)
Total : £137.99

Otherwise youd be hard pushed to do much better for an even ton

Currently camera machine has

2.4ghz celeron
256 RAM
Some old graphics card

It runs fine but struggling... I was thinking of adding

  • Dual Core 2 to 2.8ghz
  • 2GB 6400
  • 250GB SATA
  • x600 256MB

EDIT: How many megabytes is the 8800 on the Asus M3N78-EM?

bump!

Is AMD x2 and Asus mobo quite? really need someone to say:

"Yes Ari, AMD athlon X2 and ASUS M3N78-EM GeForce 8300 Socket AM2 are really really quite"

These are going to be sitting in the same room where the bedroom is. :(

I have a motherboard from that same asus line, it just has a 8200 for my HTPC. Its dead quite! I have never used the AMD standard heatsink though, I blow £30 on a zalman one back in the day.

Intel and AMD stock coolers are not quite.
