My motherboard is an Asrock Dual SATA2 and about a week ago my pc started to just crash. I wouldnt get blue sceens just a blank screen and the pc would still be on. The crashes became more and more frequent and a couple of times my motherboard had a beeping fit (11 beeps). Now its dead :( it turns on, all fans spin but no beep. The harddrive activity light is still on but nothing happens.

Before it died i tested the ram with memtest and it past fine and I tested the cpu using prime95 and I got no errors. Am i right in thinking that the motherboard is now duff?

Take it apart, check all connections, clear cmos Remount the cpu sink, DIMMS, PCI, AGP etc..If no go its likely the board or psu, cpus usually do not die, happens but rare. Also, if possible, test cpu, memory, cards in another pc.

Ive done all that already. Ill try swap over my psu with another and see what happens :(

edit: swapped over psus and come to the conclusion that the motherboard is dead :(

I bought a new motherboard and set the bits all up again and I got the same response (all fans working etc but no boot), I took the new motherboard back and bought a cpu instead and put it in the old motherboard and it worked. Only problem is im now getting the same random blank screen crashes that i was having before. Could it be possible for a dodgy motherboard to take out a cpu?

I currently have similar problem with my rig not posting and no beeps or screen initialisation. I tested RAM/GFX/PSU elsewhere and they were fine. I assumed the mobo was at fault and RMA'd it. Overclockers tested it and it worked fine. Which leaves the CPU  Still waiting for a reply to my messages though about this and an RAM number :(

Fire..

I know how you feel. The motherboard is fine now but i think its a bit weird that my processor died after only 6 months. Now the machine is being weird again. Ive dropped everything down to default speeds etc and if it still keeps crashing im getting a dfi-ultra d instead :p

ah ha!!!!! Its the graphics card that is duff. I put it in my brothers machine and he got the same random blank screen problem. I have his 9700pro in my machine and it is fine......x1900xt here i come :P
