Right then, here we go:

1) I intend to refurbish my lower fork legs as they're marked and the paint is wearing off due to the bike being 15 years old.
So I'm getting the forks stripped and rebuilt with new seals and fresh oil and while they're apart what should I do with the fork legs?
I'm thinking of stripping them back to metal then spraying them up silver or black and giving them a good laquer. Any other suggestions as to what I could do, are there any procedures which are commonly performed to refurbish lower fork legs?

2) My speedo reads in KMH, so all of the mileage so far is correct and true in KM. However it's a bit of a pain in this country so I have a few options.
i) Sticker the face up with mph equivalents
ii) Get a kmh>mph converter and bolt it to the speedo cable (this means that I'll have to record the current mileage in KM and then work out how many miles it's done after that - it's basically a ball ache and could cause complications when I come to sell it).
iii) My preferred option - buy a digital speedo.

Now, does anybody have any reccomendations for a digital speedo which can be fitted to any bike? It'd be super useful if it had a clock and a trip computer too. Are there such devices? If so, where do I get them from?

I've tried to categories the questions, so please feel free to answer any that you can!

Cheers.

Performance Bikes had a gizmo in it a few months ago that, for a few quid, downgeared the speedo input so that 20kph on the clocks is 20mph. :)

Aye, that's what I mentioned in the OP. Problem is, my KM mileage then become mile mileage which then becomes a ball ache to explain to the next buyer who might be put off by a dodgey change.

Loads of people on the Firestorm list fitted Sigma BC800 cycle computers to the VTR.
Will read up to 186mph, got a whole host of toys on it. If you do go down the cycle computer route, dont buy a wireless set, the ignition on the bike plays havoc with the wireless.

So i've bought one, but christ knows how i'm meant to input my wheel size, the user manual is literally useless - I can't make ANY sense of it.

There's 3 sections about how to enter the correct formula for you wheel size:

Part A) Measure the wheel from top to bottom - so that's 431.8 mm+the profile of my tyres which is 20 then is says :1.61

Part B) Measure how far the wheel travels in one full rotation - Wheel size = mm:1.61

Then it gives you a chart with a whole host of measurements on 16x1.75x2, 20x.175x2, 24x1 3/8A etc.

What the hell does this crap mean, I'm starting to get really frustrated now.
