About time too

Im sick of having to breath in all those carfumes when i am trying to enjoy my early morning cig.

I am also a non driver and welcome a step towards this, perhaps people will think more about a 3 minute drive to the shops, or driving the kids to school in 4x4 off road tanks.

And the revenue this will generate from "moronic" drivers will help fund improved public transport, that i frequently use and have no real problem with already. Brilliant

I didnt put this in Motors because i dont want the opinions of purely petrol headed young men.

"If road charging was introduced, the government would be able to examine the option of whether it could raise enough revenue to replace fuel duty and the car tax disc. "

Hmm. a second charge then?

Quite agree. Unfortunately we need the public transport first otherwise we won't be able to get to work for a few years!

Road tax of 180quid a year? thought i already paid!

Im self employed and have no choice but to drive as part of my job. Cant exactly take the bus to the next customers house can i. As long as they remove totally the road tax and duty on petrol then i have no problem with this kind of measure. But they wont... we all know that they will reduce road tax and duty, implement PAYDrive on roads then oh suprise suprise, the duty and tax starts going back up.

Indeed. I pay that, insurance, super-fun inflated petrol tax, motorway tolls, i only learned to drive a year or so ago and that cost me a couple of grand, is getting behind the wheel really turning into such an expensive sin?

Vote Tory!
