Mountain Bike £500

Hi there

What is the best mountain bike I can get for £500? How about the Focus Northern Lite 2009?

I am a complete beginner so any pro's con's would be helpful in my choice.

Have a look at the Merlin range.

Great components for the money. Also, get a hardtail if your a beginner - will improve your technique. Though you cant really get a full sus for £500 so you have no choice but to get a hardtail.

nah id get on singletrack website classifieds and get something second hand like a on one 456 full build.

i certainly wouldnt buy new for £500 it'd be madness as you'll get crap all but cheap parts
