well ive decided to venture into the outdoors, ive have been doing a light to moderate weight training program and do some cross training on off days for the last year so have a reasonable fitness level, i want to be mainly doing well used local trails to begin with and maybe some light inclines

this http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70058

seems like a good starting bike or is it too much to spend on a beginers bike any points would be appreciated as im not to up on these but you got to start somewhere.

thanks in advance

I wouldn't say it was too much money...any less cash and you'll probably end up with some heavy steel framed junk. I'm not up to speed with all the names of the components and whether they're any good but it def seems ok to start with.

Make sure you get the right size frame though. Your legs should still be slightly bent when the pedals are at the furthest point. Is there no way you could test ride it first?

A Specialized Hardrock is a great entry level bike.
You'ld probably be able to get one for £250-£300 2nd hand in "as new" condition, maybe less.

id sooner by new than 2nd hand at least you get some warranty then, i have a 33inch inside leg and 6' 4" tall so i'm thinking a 23" frame would suit. im goin down to evans cycles tomorrow to have a look in the flesh, there are so many to choose from though.

i do like the look of that Giant Terrago Disc but i dont think evans stock Giant so cant test one out, and its cheaper and black , thanks for the info much appreciated.
