sorry but this has got to be quick

My mouse has a mind of its own. i have reinstalled windows and every was fine untill 2 weeks ago when the mouse took on a mind of its own.

When ever i turn the comp on now the mouse goes nuts, its keeps bringing up the right click menu or moving the cursor to wherever the mouse is.

Also the left button brings the right click menu up ( no its not set up for left hand use)

I have a Medion Lap top with a scroll pad / finger mouse pad under the keyboard. I used to be able to configure this in the set up control panel but i cant find it anymore..

I have been onto the Medion website and downloaded al the drivers, Video sound etc, but this mouse thing is driving me nuts!

I cant use the internet or any other programme because the mouse keeps moving of its own accord.

example, it has takn me 10 mins to write this, in that time it has undone this message twice, delted it and selected and copied and pasted it twice!!!! Also i some times have to click like made to open anything or select a button on the internet to get it to select it.

Its not the mouse, because when i have unplugged it and tried to use the finger pad it does the same thing!!!

This is not a joke, its driving me nuts!!!

Has anyone on here got any ideas?

apols if this is in the wrong place, i just wanted it one here as soon as poss.

thanks for reading!!!

How fast do they go? Corner well?

Anyway... have you tried disabling the mousepad (either in BIOS or via windows)? Then try and use a external mouse to see if that will work. Getting the feeling it could be the hardware, as in the mouse pad, although personally i'd never heard of these failing much but i guess it must happen from time to time

Was'nt there a piece of malware going around that did this sort of thing? Have you tried doing a Virus/spyware scan?

Quite possible seeing as the OP mentioned that the option has gone from control panel! Run Spybot and the usual programs to check, always good practise to run then every once in a while anyway

Nev93 in BIOS you should see something labeled Touchpad or Mousepad... something to that effect... have a look and let us know whats in your BIOS thats mouse related.

thanks, i haverun spybot and it didnt come up with anything...

as for bios... have no idea how to check it! can anyone give me an idiots guide to check it?
thanks

When you first boot up(in the first couple of seconds after powering on) you will seeing somewhere a message saying press del to enter setup/BIOS or press F1, something like that. Just press whichever button soon as you see that message it will take you to a blue menu system, dont change stuff though lol. Unless its that pesky mouse thing ;)

If you are a brave little bunny, with a decent set of screwdrivers and lots of patience....

You could dismantle the laptop and check the connection for the touch pad. Could easily be the case is warped, or has half a sandwich jammed under the button. Definatly sounds more like a dodgy touchpad than anything else. :)

Or even run the laptop without that touchpad connected if it is failing.
