movies that show drug addiction

Blow & Pulp Fiction are two films that come straight to mind. The former focuses on cocaine dealing, the latter doesn't really center on drugs at all but it has a fair bit of heroin usage in it.

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas is the king of drugs films, but you really ought to read the book, as well as any of HST's other works. Another film that's based on a book that you should watch/read is Trainspotting.

Some powerhouse performances from Hugo Weaving and a young Kate Blanchet in a thorny, sombre yet beautifully shot production. Although too down-beat for the enjoyment of some viewers, it's an overall triumph.

A man apart was one of the most panned films of the early 00's, and with a 'starring cast' of Vin Diesel (of Fast & the Furious / XXX - hardly a back catalogue of critical acclaim) and Larenz Tate (of disasterous failure, The Postman! :p ) this film I will have to gain hearty and numerous recommendation before risking my time with it!

The Shield (The US tv series I presume) is superb :) Really entertained by that one though yet to view entire series as of yet.
