Right now I have ADSL with Zen and the house I'm moving to on the 1st August currently has ADSL with BT. I want to transfer my Zen account over to the new house. Does anyone know if the transfer is quite fast and pain free? I need an internet connection for work, so any downtime is gonna be quite hard.

If all went perfectly i think the best is about 5 days downtime. If you seriously cannot do without i suggest starting a new account on the new line so its active when you move, then close the old one when you leave. You may get a bit of overlapping billing but at least you wont be without your internet.

You need the BT ADSL gone for starters, and if you start a new account bear in mind you'll have to pay an activation fee (whereas it's free if you use the home mover option), and you'll probably lose the email accounts for the old one.
Best idea is to speak to your ISP.

Talking to Zen ASAP is the best route as most people leave this way too late to do anything useful.

If you absolutely have to have a connection right away then the only safe approach is to have a new PSTN line installed with ADSL provisioned at the same time, talk to Zen about that as it still takes some careful synchronisation to get the orders right.

That will cost a lot more than taking over the existing line but will get you ADSL on day 1.

If you take over the existing line the odds are you'll be without ADSL for a lot more than 5 days as the previous occupiers ISP tags will most likely still be on the line till there cease completes and that depends on them actually telling their ISP early enough to get a cease moving before you get there.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna give Zen a call tomorrow and see what they say. Virgin is also available at the new place, so I'll call Virgin to see what they can offer me as well.
