Moving out - landlord problems

Glad you're moving out into a decent place :)

Make sure you have a watertight case before you take him to small claims; don't want to see you out of pocket due to this tit of a landord.

UPDATE*************

Well we've decided that we're fed up of getting threats from HIM about contacting his solicitor so we're going to take him to the small claims court to get three times the amount of the deposit back + the deposit itself. If we win it will perhaps teach him for being such a ****.

I'll keep you informed as to how this progresses.

Sounds like a right idiot!!!

Don't think that will work though, there is a loophole whereby as long as the deposit is put into a DPS before a case makes it to court, it will get dropped.
I dont think there has been a sucessfull case yet...

Theres more info on the consumer action group website on the tennant/landlors section.

If I were you I would concentrate more on not getting stiffed by this rogue landlord. As said, take pics of everything, get as much evidence as you can to proove you left the house decent.

Good luck and get ready to contest the landlord if he tries taking any of the deposit!!

Why are landlords such idiots? Is it all in efforts to save money?

and the sweeping generalisation of the day award goes too?

Thats a bit like saying why are all tennants such dirty lazy wasters who can't look after anything jusy because a minority of tennants trash houses and don't pay the rent.

The vast majority of landlords and tennants are perfectly reasonable people there will always be a minority who take the mic no matter how many new pieces of legislation the powers that be pass. You just don'e her about the good ones because nobody thinks hmm my landlord has done a good job lately I beter toddle off to the internet and post about it.
