Hi guys,

Looking for some advice. I have a 2 year old moggy and I'm looking to move out to somewhere with some mates very similar to this:

Now assuming the land lord doesn't have a problem with it, does anybody have any experience with a cat in this kind of place? Obviously I can kick him out during the day and the house has garden type areas around so he will have places to go and IIRC the flat itself is on the ground floor.

Anybody with any experience like this or similar?

You'll need to keep him / her in for a couple of weeks to acclimatise.
Other than that, just make sure your mates don't crash around and scare the poor bugger while he gets used to his new surroundings and also realise if they let him out he's likely to run off!

I was under the impression most landlords and letting agencies had a no pets clause in nearly all contracts, but I wish you all the luck in finding a suitable place. I used to live in a place with cat flaps and pet proofed but the letting agent still said it was their universal policy to not allow any pets.

When we had no cat flaps our cats got used to our regime. They went out when left for work and came in when got home, it worked arguably better than having cat flaps. You also don't have the issue of rogue cats coming in and eating their food etc.

I live in a one bedroomed flat with my cat.
No problems here. I did install a lock on my bedroom door to keep him out of there though - he moults a lot so don't want my bed covered in hair. Just remember to empty the littertray often, and don't place it beside a radiator.
My cat doesn't go outside, he doesn't like it in the city.

I'm hoping the land lords don't mind, that's one of the two problems I know I'll face. My biggest worry is the fact that it may be the flat itself, so getting him inside when i call him in the evening and how well he will adapt to the environment seeing as he has lived down a cul-de-sac for his whole life with no major roads

Is you cat able to open doors when they're closed? :D

Old flat, doors don't really stay shut. And he's quite a large cat and can push it in when they are closed. Doesn't have a proper catch - if anything, the catch it does have allows it open easier...
Would you like to see a picture of my purdy cat?
