Moving to Chesterfield/Sheffield

You must live in an actual **** hole because from where I'm standing its not as you describe it.

Ditto.

I've lived in the city centre and now live in Crookes / Broomhill. I love Sheffield.

When we lived in the city centre, we paid £475 PCM for a one-bed flat in a new building (Mandale House, Bailey Street). That also included a space in the underground car park.

Where we live now, we pay £575 for a 2 bed semi with off-street parking in an area that is far from a **** hole.

I guess it depends what you're willing to pay for a decent location.

I've lived here for 26 years. It USED to be a great city I'll grant you that but now with little industry and social decay it's become a ghost of it's former self, even the outlaying villages are suffering.

'little industry' - just because the metal works have downsized, it doesn't mean that industry is dead. There are a lot of tech companies in Sheffield - Plusnet's HQ being quite a large one!

Ok if your budget is really tight I would look just south of Chesvegas for rentals. Look at Grassmoor, Wingerworth and Clay Cross, they are all not nearly as nice as Ches but you will benefit much lower rent price and they're all on major routes into town/regular bus routes (every 15 - 30mins).

i live in morton, although moving to Hilcote to be nearer M1, its the 97 and 98 buses, they go all through local suburbs on the way to town.

Morton, is very quiet mining village as most are round here, but good transport links to A61 and M1 etc

Another Chessie resident here - always found it very amenable - big enough for there to be stuff to do and a decent night out but small enough so you don't get no-marks selling drugs and guns on every corner! :p (either that or I don't look like I need either so they just don't approach me!)

All in all a decent place with plenty of places for rent judging by the "To Let" signs all over the place!

Like the others, drop me a mail in trust if you need anything more specific!

Good luck with the move stoke1863, let us know how you get on :)

On another note - can we stop with the unhelpful posts such as "my sympathies" and "avoid". They add nothing to the discussion.

well finally just moved in, couldn't find anything nice for my budget in Chesterfield so ended up in South Sheffield, Sothall

Halfway between work in chesterfield and Sheffield City Centre,

Thanks for the advice
