Moving to GiffGaff

I ordered a Giff Gaff sim last August but never used it as I opted to stay with Orange.

I'm thinking of making the switch now so will the Giff Gaff sim still be good to go?

It should still be fine, just register it online first. You can transfer your number over later.

with giffgaff can you setup a contract or do you need to add and do yourself each month ?

Until the 20th of June the standard goodybags you have had to add manually, however, you could queue them up if you wished.

After the 20th of June Giffgaff have said you can select "recurring" goodybags. So basically like a rolling monthly direct debit/contract :)

Cool thanks.

I may give it a try this weekend. The only thing I'm unsure about is O2 coverage round my area, because Orange is pretty decent. Hey I can always give it a month and keep my sim only Orange deal running just in case it doesn't work out.

Got a sim through the post today. Just need my Vodafone stuff to expire then I will transfer my number and get started. :) I currently pay Vodafone £15 for 600 texts, 150mb internet and 200 minutes. GiffGaff destroys that.

Guys

Moving to GG at the end of this month, I've purchased a £20 goody bag at the end of last month and started the porting process (Booked for the 26th of this month) my £20 runs out on the 26th of this month so shall I buy another £20 on the £25?

Then can I set it up to buy £20 every month or is it a manual process?

Thanks

Makes the move even more of the right decision for me :)

Just see this thread pop up again :D I'm a very happy GiffGaff customer :D

Especially with automatically renewed giffgaff bags coming soon :D

Saving myself some good money each month :)

I've been on giffgaff for 3 weeks now and it's been excellent so far, can't believe I didn't join sooner.

I'm currently with O2 can I expect the same 3G coverage with GG?

Can't wait to have 800 mims instead of 300 paranoid I'm going to go over and end up with a massive bill

Hi Guys

Just went to setup the auto topup on giffgaff (number ports tomorrow) and its saying my credit is under £3 and I need to buy some first, whats the difference between credit and goodybags?

Credit is there all the time and goody bags run out after a month?

I must pay for that £10 credit then as I have no choice...?

Thanks

I believe the auto top just refers to credit, which is only used for calls not covered by your goody bag e.g. calls abroad, when you run out of goody bag minutes, and maybe certain national "08##" numbers (not sure of the last one).

It's always useful to have credit. I still have some from my referral, but I don't think I'll bother setting up the auto top up feature because I rarely make calls not covered by the goody bag.

So yes, goody bags run out after a month unless (as of today) you set them to recur. I've literally just done it this minute and all seems well. Now mine recurs on the 21st of each month. So (hopefully) it should work just like a rolling monthly SIM only type contract :)
