Moving to sheffield - Spec Me

Haven't been down Sheffield for ages now so can't really offer any advice on where to live. But I can offer one piece of advice that you will want to heed.

Don't go to Rotherham.

Those were the flats I immediately thought of when I saw the spec and where you'd be working.

It's a 5-minute walk, if that, to work if the HSBC is where you're going. In fact, you can see the offices from one of the photos :D

I've got no idea what the flats themselves are like, but in terms of locational convenience, it's spot on. And as you say, it's got some cracking pubs in staggering distance - The Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern, or The Harlequin if good ale and proper cosy pubbiness is what you're after.

Near a tram stop too, if you can't even be bothered to walk into town :)

EDIT: I guess my only concern would be road noise - that's a very busy roundabout they're overlooking.

There is a development on Upper Allen Street that's again, close to Hoyle Street;

I do still think a bit further toward the centre would be better.

If you look at anything actually on West Street, (like Morton Works) try and make sure it doesn't look onto West Street itself (it can get noisy down there - but it can't really be heard if your windows look out the other way).

If you come to Sheffield to look at some local estate agents etc, they all seem to cluster on Campo Lane. Makes it easier when looking!
 
Most have centralised satellite feeds. *looks behind TV* yup.

Also, in Sheffield we have 'Digital Region' which is FTTC but actually in place - not just talked about like BT are doing. 40mb/10mb is easy to get via Digital Region. (Although I have a 'normal' ADSL connection which syncs at 22mb)

I would rather get the train than drive. I presume it is near chesterfield station. :)
