As title really. I've had my MR2 roadster (06, TF300) since March and whilst it's a lovely car to drive it really is a weekend car and I can't deal with the lack of boot and inability to take people places anymore.

I've always had a thing for Celicas (owned one for 2 weeks a while ago, long story), and I'm going to hopefully buy a 55 plate Celica tomorrow. I've lost a couple of grand on my MR2 but with Celica's out of production I think this one I've found is the best I'll ever hope to get Celica-wise (good mileage, condition etc).

Only problem is it has red leather seats which I've always been against. Would any self respectable person (male, age ~24) on here ever buy a car with red leather seats? And would anyone consider anything else similar? Looked at the RX8 but its more expensive to run.

I quite like the look of the Celica's red leathers personally but if you don't there will be many takers for them over on celica-club.co.uk, they are a fairly rare option. Then you could go for the standard black or two tone leather seats such as mine:

Or of course you could go aftermarket.

I quite like red leather (straight male, age 24)

Not sure what it would look like on a Celica though, any pics? What colour's the paint?

It looks ace on black cars like Alfa 156's.

Something tells me the chicks may dig it too, though you obviously know if you want that or not.

Red leather is amazing but Toyotas are not. Male ~24.

Is there not the option to get red leather, but fitted to something good?

The paintwork colour is the big question, if the car's red, hell no. My favourite standard seats for the Celica are the half leather/half alcantara with red stitching though:

I never know whether the fact that you don't like my car makes me happy or sad, I'm gonna take a stab at the former :)

It's a black Celica. Not got any pictures but it's very similar to this

Infact its exactly the same as that car bar the milage as far as I can see.

it's up to you really. if you don't think it's too garish then go for it. you might have trouble come re-sale time though

I would still call that a bit pricey mate, it's only the 140 engine right? My '04 190 t-sport is currently for sale for 5.5k, ok it's done 68k miles but I don't think the extra cash is justified there, especially if you are wary of the interior.

Yeh it's the 140. What would you pay? It's taxed until end of April, 12 months MOT, 28k miles, 55 plate, premium red edition (which afaik means spoiler, climate control, elec sunroof, subwoofer and red seats as extras). Whatcar valuations says 9500.

It's hard to price that car tbh mate because you can get the entire spec without the red leathers (which you don't seem keen on) and different alloys for a fair bit less. If it was me, I wouldn't pay more than 6k for a 140.

If you must have the Celica at least make sure its the 190. In 140 form its just a generic, not particularly quick Japanese coupe. Which is fine, at the right money, and £9k is nothing like the right money. It's a £4k car, tops*

*By this, I mean it is the sort of car you'd be happy with having spent, say, 4k on it, taking into account its relative merits, design, etc, not that its 'worth' 4k as I have no doubt is 'worth' 9k. Doesnt mean you should pay that though.

£9k buys considerably better cars - even if you wish to stay Japanese.

Hmm, doesn't look awesome, but I can imagine a lot of people going for it, so might help the resale of the car. If you can put up with it and can't find a better one it might be worth it. For keeps, it's not to my taste.
