I use this for my work. It will send emails to outlook when a new task is added/updated however, it will not sync with the calender because we are not running office 2007.

I think that depends on what sharepoint version you're running.
I've definitely had the calendars integrated with office XP and 2003. I can't remember how I did it though , sorry.
It was probably a webpart somewhere you can drag and drop, and then tell it which exchange server to look at and what calendars you want. Something like that....
