MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC

ok just opened the card up to install and noticed the back of the card has a slight sticky feel to it and i can see fingerprints. is this a pcb cleaner that hasnt been washed off ??
 
Yea the cooling on these is completely overkill. The default fan profile only goes up to 80% fan speed at 80 degrees, which really only happens if you put them through OCCT / Furmark.
 
My drivers stop responding over 970 Mhz, even though temps are low and I have no artifacts.

Even with SLI disabled, it still happens :(

Why????

Dont tell me that I got unlucky and got bad chips :(
 
Mine crashed at 1001mhz.

Ramped it back to 990 and Kombustor is sitting there spinning away quite happily - ten minutes now (1001 lasted about 5 before giving in) and it's looking good.

I need to download the beta version of Afterburner to get at the voltages - fingers crossed a little bit more juice may get 1000 stable :)

Given I *seem* to have a decent clocking GPU here, what should I be looking at for the memory - or is 2200 enough?
 
Just a quick update to anyone following this thread.

My card is perfectly stable at 1000/2200 @ 1025mV. Maximum temperatures are 79/80 after a long, long time spent running Kombustor.

Together with my new [email protected], it's a fairly decent upgrade from my E3110 + 8800GT :D

I got Far Cry and doom 3 when they went on offers and never played them lol

I'll wait until Crysis 2 goes cheap too.
 
I found Kombustor/Furmark to be decent stress tests for memory, but I had clocks with my 460 that would sit running for 20 minutes with no discernible errors in Kombustor, and then cause driver crashes within one run of Heaven 2.1.

I'd recommend using 15 minutes or so of Kombustor and 2 or 3 runs of Heaven to get a rough guide to overclock stability (I say rough, because there're no guarantees that a clock that's only marginally stable might squeak through a couple of runs okay).
 
Does anyone know how to get MSI Kombustor to work in SLI? The normal exe only stresses the top GPU, and I found another exe named heaven than stresses each card, but only by 40% on one, and 50% on the other.

I see the unlock power draw option, but it is grayed out and cant be selected.

Not too far from 1 Ghz. 990 Mhz was also stable @ 1125 mV, but 1 Ghz still isnt :(
 
I replaced the thermal paste on both cards, each one got a 5 c reduction to max temp, stuck the fans at 100% and got them up to 990 Mhz vantage stable.

My 990 Mhz score was lower though, so I didnt screenshot it.

They still crashed at 1000 Mhz though :(

Out of the box I had one card doing 1000 Mhz and the other only managing 950, so to get them both up to 990 Mhz is really good. I've heard that a Vbios update might improve overclocking on my weaker card, or better drivers might even help, at least I hope so.
 
No they are just barely audible, cant hear them with my headphones on.

990 is really good, but I want 1000 on both cards dammit!
